I work at Rosemary's Romance Books in Brisbane and read many books as they come out and quite a few ARC. I give advice to lots of people during the day so I thought I'd share my opinion in the blog. If there are specific books you'd like reviewed let me know and I'll see what I can do. (the opinions I express are my own and are in no way to be considered those of Rosemary)

Pure Sex

The Bet by Lucinda Bets

Zoe Lauterborn is the best investment banker on Wall Street, but she could never be just one of the guys. Still with a promotion practically in the bag Zoe had to have a decent working relationship with these men. So when Zoe got a little tipsy during one after work happy hour with the guys she perhaps reacted a little differently than she would have normally to their suggestions that Phillip Kingdom would get the promotion, a truly ridiculous notion considering that her numbers were consistently higher. When Zoe suggests that her coworkers put their bonus's where their mouths are they all decline except for Phillip, but Phillip doesn't want her money, he wants her body.

Phillip felt a little guilty about pushing Zoe into the bet after getting her a bit tipsy, but not guilty enough to loose the napkin she'd signed with the bets conditions on it. So casting aside his guilt Phillip finds himself determined to rid Zoe of her inhibitions on a night of fantasy and pleasure neither of them will ever forget.

I enjoyed Zoe's journey of discovery from straight laced Ice Queen business woman to feminine sexual siren without having to give up any part of herself. Instead Zoe grew to discover that being feminine did not equate loosing control nor loosing the respect she required to function in her male dominated world. Other than a brief asshole moment when he took advantage of Zoe's drunkenness Phillip seemed a nice guy, taking no sexual release for himself on the night of the bet he seemed determined to push all of Zoe's boundary's and break down all of her defensive walls with the pleasure he could provide her. With sympathetic characters and very little in the way of secondary characters to distract you from the tension building between Phillip and Zoe The Bet is an electric story of hot passion and searing sensuality sure to delight.

Slow Hand by Bonnie Edwards

Teri Branton is going on her honeymoon, a luxury Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately she has no groom to share the adventure with her because the asshole she was meant to marry that morning had run off with her maid of honor and left her at the alter. Of course once Teri gets a good look at the piratical captain of the SandJack, Jared MacKay, Teri starts to think that maybe a vacation with a gorgeous Caribbean pirate might be exactly what she needs.

Captain Jared MacKay had given up on the rat race in favor of a lazy life in the Caribbean. Running honeymoon cruises kept him in pocket, and if it was occasionally difficult to ignore the sounds coming from the honeymoon cabin Jared just figured it was part of the job. Until he laid eyes on Teri Branton, suddenly Jared wasn't sure he could handle hearing this woman in the throes of passion, unless he was the one to take her there. Thrilled to learn about her absent groom Jared is still shocked by the electric thrill that passes between them whenever they touch, the thrill that marks the curse of the MacKay men.

Sexually steamy and emotionally erotic, Slow Hand will bring you to your knee's with tears of laughter and gut clenching pleasure. With graphically drawn characters in a vividly painted world I found myself so immersed in the story I could feel the rock of the boat and hear the ocean. Watching Teri blossom under Jared's gentle hand was emotionally uplifting, while Jared's willingness to make Teri happy no matter the personal cost was romantically very satisfying. I found Slow Hand to be a very enjoyable read and look forward eagerly to Ms. Edwards next exciting book.

The Crib by Sasha White

When Lexy's uncle Tony becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a junky behind his bar 'The Crib' Lexy Knows that something isn't right. So returning to her home town to track down the real killer becomes Lexy's mission. A mission she won't let Devon, the sexy bike dealer, interfere with.

Devon has a closely guarded secret, one that he must keep from Alexis. Even after they share a night so hot just the thought of it can make him weak in the knees. While his secret keeps him in close convines to Lexy, Devon is forced to build lie upon lie to keep the truth from the woman who is beginning to stir emotions deep within his soul.

A thrilling murder mystry wrapped around some sizzling hot sex makes for an interesting and involving read. While I found the ending to be a little anticlimatic and somewhat of a disapointment, especially when compared to other stories in the anthology please remember that this is my personal opinion and give this story a chance yourself.
